Perineal and pelvic rehabilitation is one of the many fields of practice of physiotherapy. It is beneficial to consult a physiotherapist if one of the following situations applies to you:
Urinary leaks
High urination frequency (more than 8 times a day)
Discomfort or pain during sex
Relaxation of the pelvic floor
Painful scar
Descent of organs (bladder, uterus or others)
Perineal and pelvic pain
For who?
Perineal and pelvic rehabilitation is as much for women as it is for men.
How?
The objective of perineal and pelvic rehabilitation is to stabilize the urinary system, reduce chronic pain and strengthen the pelvic floor.
What is the pelvic floor?
This is the musculature that supports your internal organs like your bladder, rectum, and uterus. It works together with the muscles of your lumbar region as well as your deep abdominals to maintain good lumbopelvic stability. We must re-educate this muscle group when we suffer from certain problems.
